Chicago Event Honors Ron Howard’s Film Career with Achievement Award

Acclaimed actor, producer, director, and Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Ron Howard received the Silver Hugo Career Achievement Award at the Chicago International Film Festival’s Summer Gala on June 12, 2010. The award recognized his outstanding film career that has spanned 50 years and counting.
The event was staged at Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry by Resolution Digital Studios’ affiliate, Show Department Inc. The team handled the visual content for the presenters, all live audio support, lighting design, venue scenic design, event technical direction, and stage management.
Some of Ron Howard’s most memorable work includes his role as Opie on the “The Andy Griffith Show”, his role as Richie on “Happy Days”, as well as some of Hollywood’s most memorable films: Cocoon, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and Backdraft.
The evening festivities were hosted by award-winning television journalist Bill Kurtis, with red carpet appearances by Kevin James, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly, Vince Vaughn and Paul Bettany.
